So beta testers, what are your thoughts on DC Universe Online?
Beta Players,
We’ve played together in DCUO’s closed Beta for months. We’ve posted back and forth, voted Up or Down, and shared this new universe together. Now, it’s time to take a step closer towards launch.
Thank you, all, for your play and feedback. We appreciate that, despite the challenges presented by a game in Beta, your feedback has helped us understand the game from a player’s point of view. Your thoughts, critiques, opinions, and suggestions have given us a wealth of perspective to draw from. DCUO is a far better game today because of your efforts.
Today, December 6, 2010, the NDA will be dropped across the game and the Beta forums will change. We will move together from our closed beta forums to our official forums. Our conversations, and our game, will be shared with the world. So keep playing, keep posting, and keep talking about DCUO.
You’ve helped us make a good game great. Let’s keep that going as we finish out beta. Thank you.
Game Director Chris Cao
FOXBORO — Maybe it was coincidence. Maybe it was luck. Maybe it was smartly calculated.
Whatever the case, the setting couldn’t have been better than to have three-time Super Bowl-winning linebacker Tedy Bruschi [stats] walk out at halftime of last night’s 45-3 Patriots [team stats] rout of the New York Jets [team stats] at Gillette Stadium to be honored for his playing exploits.
Bruschi always had that knack for making a big play, for being in the right place at the right time to pull off that pivotal game-changer.
Perhaps that’s what Patriots owner Robert Kraft was figuring when the date was booked long ago. Even in street clothes, the appearance of Bruschi might not only spark a positive charge out of the crowd but also provide a boost to the current players in the biggest game of the season.
There’s so much more to Bruschi’s presence. In many ways, the retired Patriot, who now works as an NFL analyst for ESPN, still mirrors what this team is about.
Even though coach Bill Belichick cleared the walls of all the pictures from the past, most notably the three championship winners, in an effort to have this team create its own identity, it’s hard to ignore many of the characteristics and virtues of these Pats who did battle with Rex Ryan’s outfit last night as being the same as those that made Bruschi such an enormous fan favorite.
“My career with the Patriots, I think it related to the fans so much,” Bruschi said. “I always felt like I was one of them. (Just) a hard worker. I just wanted to play hard, whether we won or lost, to make sure I was the guy playing hard the entire time.”
Bruschi
was a hard worker who did things no one expected. That’s what Belichick admired most about him, and perhaps, admires most about his team.
Belichick certainly was a fan of what Bruschi brought to the table. When Bruschi retired, it marked one of the few times the stoic Belichick broke down and showed some emotion. That’s because Bruschi was the poster boy for the type of player Belichick loves to coach.
This year’s Patriots defense also has heard “it’s too this” and “it’s too that.” The unit is ranked at or near the bottom of every category that counts. But the Pats keep making just enough plays and outworking most opponents and winning those competitive matchups, just like the man honored on the field last night.
Regardless of the result, just the thought of No. 54 being there, making his way out on the field with his family, brought on goose bumps.
It made you think back to all of the times he delivered in games like the one played out in the bone-chilling cold.
Bruschi just inspires good feelings and good vibes, whether from his play or his recovery from a stroke.
Plus, who better represents a bridge between the championship teams of old and these Pats?

Tedy Bruschi still sets example for ‘D’
Sound like any defense you know?Perhaps that’s what Patriots owner Robert Kraft was figuring when the date was booked long ago. Vampire Diaries Spoilers: The Turning of Tyler
Starting tonight, The Vampire Diaries enters into the final stretch of 2010. Only two episodes remain this year, and both of which will give plenty of time to Tyler and his transformation into a werewolf.
As producer Julie Plec has already teased, this event will lead to the influx of many more werewolves in Mystic Falls. It will also change Tyler forever.
“We’ll learn a lot about the mythology and the rules of the transformation over the next two episodes before we actually see it,” Plec told The Los Angeles Times this week. “You’ll learn that while it gets a little bit easier the more you do it, the first time is not easy.”
Plec says the transition will be "life altering" for Tyler, and also have far-reaching consequences for other characters.
“What happens after that is going to be a big part of what happens in Mystic Falls, and how our other characters get involved in Tyler’s story. A lot of secrets start to come out and it becomes very complicated after he turns.”
What other storylines can fans look forward to? The producer offered the following teases to the newspaper:
The evolution of Damon: “We’ve watched Damon’s journey as he struggled with his role as hero and leading man and the knocks that come along with that and the problems that’s given him. His own personal transformation is a big part of this year and the rest of the season.”
The blood diet of Stefan: "For a while, we’re going to see him very functionally manage this consumption because it’s actually a really smart plan.”
The immortality (?) of Klaus: “As we get into the new year, that’s going to be a big question,” says Plec, adding that the story of the Originals and Klaus' arrival will lead to “lots of interesting developments and intriguing characters.”
The return of... someone: Without naming names, Plec said, yes, we'll see a killed-off character again.
Who might it be? Who would you like it to be? Sounds like a topic to be discussed in our Vampire Diaries forum!
